This collaboration aims to streamline identity verification for NDIS participants and service providers, a key step in reducing fraud, minimising administrative errors, and to ensure funding correctly reaches the participants who need support.
Through its integration with ConnectID, Caresquare enables plan managers to verify participants’ and providers’ identities in real-time, using third party verification. By leveraging trusted institutions such as banks to verify the information, ConnectID offers a secure and seamless authentication process, helping ensure that only authorised individuals and legitimate providers can access NDIS funds.
The NDIS delivers essential funding and support to over 690,000 Australians with disabilities, helping them access care and services that promote independence and improve quality of life. However, challenges in identity verification can sometimes allow misuse of the system, with some individuals taking advantage of these vulnerabilities. It is estimated that fraud accounts for up to $2 billion annually, nearly 5% of the schemes total outlay, potentially diverting funds intended to support those who genuinely need assistance.
“The NDIS is a critical lifeline for Australians with disabilities, and its integrity must be protected,” said Andrew Black, Managing Director of ConnectID. “By integrating ConnectID with Caresquare, we’re making it simple for plan managers to verify identities, reduce fraud, and ensure participants receive the support they deserve.”
Why Caresquare chose ConnectID
Plan managers continue to play a central role in the NDIS, with over 65% of participants currently choosing this method to manage their funding. According to the Disability Ministers Q2 2024–25 Summary, plan managers facilitated more than $6.8 billion in payments during the December 2024 quarter alone, highlighting their central role in supporting participants and maintaining financial accountability.
Caresquare selected ConnectID due to its strong security framework, real-time verification capabilities, and accreditation under the Australian Government’s Digital Identity Act (2024). By combining ConnectID with its AI-driven fraud detection tools, Caresquare aims to further enhance operational efficiency while identifying a wider range of potentially fraudulent claims. This move reinforces the critical function of plan managers while helping to modernise administrative workflows across the sector.
“Plan managers are doing their best to support people who often rely on the NDIS for essential care but they’re constantly up against challenges like verifying identities and making sure providers are legitimate,” said Josh Suntup, Founder at Caresquare. “By integrating ConnectID, we’re helping take the guesswork out of the process. It means less paperwork, fewer errors, and greater confidence that support is going to the right people.”
The partnership highlights the growing importance of trusted, bank-grade digital identity solutions in enabling secure, efficient and accountable access to government-funded programs.
“Digital identity will be at the heart of the future NDIS,” added Suntup. “It will make it easier for people to access the support they need, help providers stay compliant, and reduce the pressure on plan managers who remain a critical part of the scheme. Over time, solutions like ConnectID could even support an industry-wide digital wallet for secure and seamless identity verification.”

About Caresquare
Caresquare was founded in late 2023 by Joshua Suntup with a mission to modernise the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) sector, which has long been reliant on outdated and inefficient legacy systems. Despite the significant impact that NDIS has on individuals with disabilities, many aspects of its operation are still based on ageing technology that limits innovation, efficiency, and accessibility.
Specialising in developing modern, scalable software solutions designed to address the unique needs of the NDIS ecosystem, our goal is to empower NDIS Plan Managers with tools that enhance operational efficiency, improve communication, and simplify the NDIS process for everyone involved.
Joined by co-founder Connor Sainsbury-Canham, Caresquare works closely with its users and industry incumbents to continually enhance the software’s functionality. Together, we ensure that the solutions we develop not only meet the immediate needs of the NDIS sector but also drive meaningful, long-term improvements in service delivery. By listening to feedback and working hand-in-hand with both service providers and participants, Caresquare strives to create a genuinely impactful and user-friendly experience for everyone involved.
At Caresquare, we understand the complexities of the NDIS and the importance of delivering reliable, accessible, and transparent services. By leveraging the latest in software technology, namely the quantum leaps that are coming from Artificial Intelligence, we help organisations navigate the complexities of the scheme while ensuring that the focus remains where it should be — on providing better care and support for people with disabilities.
