From today, Australian telco brand, More, will introduce digital identity verification to support a seamless, privacy-first onboarding experience for its customers.

ConnectID® lets customers verify their identity through their bank, without uploading documents, with information shared securely and only with their consent.

ConnectID is an Australian-owned, secure digital identity verification service operated by Australian Payments Plus and backed by major Australian banks, including CommBank.

The service allows customers to verify their identity using a trusted organisation they already have a relationship with, such as their bank, without sharing sensitive personal documents like passports or driver licences.

This also reduces the sensitive data More needs to collect or hold, supporting a privacy-first onboarding experience.

Andrew Branson, CEO at More, said:

“At More, we want getting connected to feel easy and safe for our customers. ConnectID helps customers verify their details using information available through trusted organisations they already know, without needing to upload personal identification details. It’s a meaningful step forward in offering a faster, simpler and more privacy‑minded onboarding experience.”

Rick Iversen, Head of ConnectID said:

“As everyday life shifts further online, earning and maintaining customer trust is essential. By giving people a simple, private way to confirm their identity without handing over personal documents, More is helping redefine what a secure and seamless digital experience should look like.”

Monica Wegner, Executive General Manager, Everyday Banking at CommBank said:

“At CommBank, we’re focused on helping customers have safer, more trusted experiences online. The partnership with ConnectID means our customers can verify who they are using the CommBank app, without needing to share sensitive documents, helping reduce the risk of identity theft and scams as customers interact in the digital economy.”

The initial rollout will support new and existing customers purchasing a new product through the More website. Other identity verification methods will also continue to be available.
